Nothing to report.
Nothing to report. Well nothing too special, but my mum says I’m always special so lets get on with it.
It was mentioned by reader 2 of 6 (codename Al,) that blogs require inspiration and can be compared to the difficult second album. That got me onto thinking about second albums and which ones had been a real disappointment. I ‘m sure there’s a massive list but off the top of my head theses are the two that spring to mind.
Stone Roses – Second Coming; Stunning debut with dodgy second album. Lacking the same quality apparent in the debut with much more musical interludes leading to nothing.
Bloc Party – A weekend in the City; Boring and samey second album. Expected s much and am still struggling to find any song I really like.
Delays – You see Colours; Poor follow-up to an album I could listen to forever. Not a real quality track on it.
Franz Ferdinand – You could have it….; Compared to the first this stinks.
Coldplay – All; An absolutely awesome first album followed up by 2 albums that sounded exactly the same. Boring!
Norah Jones – Feels like home; From classic country to cheesy pop crap.
Linkin Park – Meteora; Fun and true new metal classic followed up by an album consisting of 2 good songs. Promptly ripped to pieces by Jay-Z when their nu-metal groupies left them.
Royksopp – The Understanding; Advert and relaxation heaven was born in Melody Am but this lacked anything to make it stand out.
Now this is far from a complete list but I’m sure some people will agree. I guess many will disagree on a few too. If I’ve missed out any glaringly bad ones then please let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I think. But yeah, going back on point I definitely agree that blogs need inspiration. In-fact that’s why they probably get written on the train, since its usually preceding a good time away or post-holiday.
Unfortunately I haven’t really done much since the last blog apart from starting university again. This year my timetable sucks in comparison to previous semesters, mainly because I have no days off(apart from Wednesday) and even then all my days only have one lecture so its hard to motivate yourself for the 1hour travel just for the one lecture. Plus the lectures are all shit this year. You may notice i have therefore that i have spent some time on the website, which included cleaning out all the spam and changing a few of the pics. Let me know what you think.
This Wednesday I’m off to Old Trafford for England Vs Spain which promises to be fun especially as I have quite a few people asking if they can sleep round to save them a late trip home to their various cities. Now I’m aware this blog sucks but I’m sure you can deal with it. Comment me please bitches.
Till next time,
Sam out
