Saturday 5-a-Side and Boredom

Now don’t get me wrong I love Manchester but I don’t half get bored sometimes. I seem to spend most of my time travelling places or doing the same old thing. Most nights I just can’t be bothered to get off my ass and even go to a pub. That’s how bad it’s got. Therefore this next week is going to be devoted to beer and meeting old friends. Therefore the blog should be some what more interesting than the usual drab I manage to conjure out of nowhere.
Today started out bright, early and very, very cold. Unfortunately I was able to fully appreciate this nice weather (instead of staying in bed); given the 10am 5-a-Side game. You can imagine the look of fun on my face as I trooped out the house at 9.55 in the morning, totally freezing and cycled to the match. Thankfully I won’t bore you with the match commentary however we did win it in the end about 4 -1 or something. I stopped paying attention in the last few minutes as I was a bit preoccupied trying to break one of the other guy’s legs hence why I don’t really know the score. Anyway I cycled home in the pissing rain and collapsed on the sofa where I promptly watched a few West wing to feel better. I think I might use the west wing like a drug fix but that’s another issue altogether. Following the 3 episodes I went for a shower and that leads me up to where I am right now writing my blog in my dressing gown.
Random Fact: The average rainfall is 809mm a year here in Manchester and just as a comparison a Tropical rainforest can have 1300mm in a year. That’s not too far off considering all the rain seems to arrive as soon as I leave the house. I love this ‘Damp City’.
Tonight I have work from 6. Should be the usual routine of pour wine, wait, pour wine, wait and repeat for 7 hours. After that I am going to have a curry with some of the girls I met from work so at least I have something to look forward to this evening. Hopefully nothing will go too wrong however it’s the Eid ul Fitr celebrations at the moment in Rusholme (where the curry houses are,) and it’s absolutely f00kin mental. Basically Eid is a time of celebration within the Muslim community to mark the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting, and begins with the first sighting of the new moon. (That was copied straight from an email sent by the police to all the Uni students). Basically there are loads of people out celebrating and since it’s a Muslim event the police presence is absolutely huge to prevent any problems. Seriously I went past 60+ police on a 300m stretch of road. It’s staggering. Think I veered off the point there but still.
I also got a few new gadgets and clothes over the last few days and since this blog is all about confessing things I’ve done I guess the things I’ve spent money on should come out the woodwork as well. Basically I bought about 6 shirts from various places and a new jacket as well. I also bought a new set of lights for the bike and also some hardcore locks so they can’t steal it. I also spent £80 on food but I guess that’s something that has to happen.
Anyway that’s enough for my update coz I’m bored of typing again and fancy some chicken for my dinner. Till next time.

My Room and Desk

So i dont know if you have any idea what my house looks like so heres a bit of a clue.
Visit the Picture here and also a video tour round the house here. You have to click on the word ‘here’ by the way as i had some people laughing at me on MSN saying i forgot to add the links when really they were just being stupid. Anyway the video is not too long and is comically cheesy and a blatent first time attempt at video editing.
PS Try not to eat all my bandwidth by clicking the movie many many times
