Bastard Chavs and my Bike
I f00kin hate chavs’
As like normal i decided to lock my bike up in the security storage area outside the Renold building. This storage area requires a magnetic card to get in and is right next to a busy walkway so i thought it would at least stop it getting tampered with. It seems i was wrong.
The lock itself is a specialized Wedlock that is one of the best locks on the market and as Maxim claimed in a random test (to see how good some locks really were) it takes a Plasma Torch 8 seconds to get through it. Considering the torch is pretty industrial stuff you could say its unbreakable really. And true it is unbreakable as they had a go at cutting it with a hacksaw (that took some paint off), a pair of boltcutters (that left 2 small marks in the side) and a hammer and chisel (that bent some one of the pins holding it together). Unfortunalty the metal that they managed to bend means the key no longer opens the lock so i’m left with my bike stuck on a pole in the middle of UMIST overnight. They also managed to take a layer of paint off the bike frame as they obviously hit it with some force.
Thats what annoys me most really. The fact that a guy had to be carrying a load of tools and constantly hitting a metal lock into other metal must of made loads of noise and yet nobody stopped him. Sometimes i wonder what people are thinking when they walk past stuff like that.
Anyway in conclusion to the story (for now anyway), the security guys for the uni have put another 2 locks round it and i have taken every bit i can off the frame and brought it home. They are also gonna speak to their locksmith and hopefully he will be able to free my bike tomorrow. I guess i have to stump up another £50 for a lock and another £40 for a helmet. Insurance is all well and good however when the damage is pretty small the excess means its nearly pointless claiming. In final comclusion:

Payrise and The Internet
Internet in 3 days, Internet in 3 days……..and repeat until somebody around, punchs you. Thats what i’ve been doing for the last few days anyway. Yeah so i have interent in 3 days, so today i bought a wireless router and some other hardware so i can play in style. Just thought i’d mention it seeing as it cost me quite a lot of cash considering i have no money at all. I bought a 54g wireless PCI card and another USB one for Mel ,(although i hope he doesnt read this seeing as it’s his b’day present and i dont want to spoil the surprise), and also a kickass router. 8Mbps line and i just cant wait to get downloading.
In other news i also started the job on Tuesday and was happy to find out that my pay had gone up to £5.15 + tips without me even working a day. Thats the kind of surprise i do like. I also was given 3 shifts this week on the Wednesday, Thursday and the Saturday so i should hopefully be raking in the cash to pay off the overdraft. It also means i have to go and buy a pair of black trousers and a couple of white shirts as i dont have any of mine up with me in Manchester. And thats what i ‘m going to do now, so until next time.
